In last week’s Wedding Tip Wednesday post on factors to consider when searching for a wedding photographer, we mentioned the benefits of an engagement session. If you booked your engagement session, here are tips on what to wear for engagement photos.
- Timeless & Classic – Similar to your wedding photos, your engagement photos will be looked at for generations to come. 10 years from now, you might not want to look back at your engagement pictures and wonder, “What was I thinking, why did I wear that?!” Keep your outfits timeless and classic. Avoid clothing with words, logos, stripes and loud patterns as they distract from your expression. We want the focus of your engagement photos to be on the connection between you and your future husband/wife.
- Coordinate, Don’t Match – Long gone are the days of formal portraits where everyone wears a white t-shirt and jeans. While we want your photos to look timeless and classic, we still want your personalities to come through! A couple looks very sharp and pulled together when their outfits have depth with accessories, layers, coordinating colors and complementary styles.
- Be Comfortable! If you do not feel comfortable, then you will not look comfortable in your photos! Your choice for clothing may also depend on the setting. Consider the location where your photos will be taken (urban city vs open fields, etc). We always strive to maximize the type of images and poses of your final photo gallery. The type of clothes you wear may limit our options, so be sure you will be comfortable in a variety of poses (sitting, standing, walking, etc.)
