The Blackstone Hotel was designated as a Chicago Landmark in 1998 and has recently been added to Marriott Hotels Autograph Collection of luxury hotels. It was once known as the “Hotel of Presidents” as all visiting presidents would stay at this luxurious hotel. Their old school glamour combined with modern luxuries gives this historic hotel a classic distinguished elegance. It is part of the Michigan Boulevard Historic district. In pop culture, the banquet room was used in the film “Untouchables” where Al Capone smashes a guest’s head with a baseball bat and was the hotel that Tom Cruise stayed in before his pool tournament in the movie “The Color of Money”

It is located on the famous Michigan Avenue and right across from Grant Park. From here you can have your photos taken at Grant Park or near Buckingham fountain. Your guests can walk two blocks away to Lake Michigan and take in the sights and if you care to walk further North you will reach Millennium Park and take in Cloud Gate “The Bean” :)

If you are a Marriott Bonvoy member, make sure to collect your point for your wedding as The Blackstone Hotel is part of Marriotts Autograph Collection and qualifies :) Make sure to check out the “Art Hall” for your cocktail hour “English Room” and the “Barbershop” for some awesome wedding photos. The “Crystal Ballroom” has a balcony second floor so consider starting your bridal entrance from there and coming down the stairs for a grand entrance. Ask for the Presidential Suite for your getting ready room that will make and amazing backdrop for your photos. During the summer and months (End of May to early September) Navy Pier puts on a fireworks show on Wednesday and Saturday nights. If you plan it just right, you can have your own personal fireworks display at your wedding!
